Coach LeAnn Whipple said she was pretty excited about how the team played.

Osceola led 7-0 after the first quarter and 19-0 at halftime. The Lady Warriors held a 32-0 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Smith said she focused a lot on dribbling and keeping her eye on the basket and that is what made her so successful inside.

“The coach told me to take the shots up strong because I might get fouled and I can also score. I appreciate the crowd support because it shows me they support me when I’m playing,” she added.

Coach Whipple said she hoped the victory would give the team confidence that they can succeed and do well on the court. She said Smith has really been a strong player for the team and she is excited to see how good she will be in the future.

“I’m really, really proud of them. They fought for the entire game and played good man-to-man defense. We also did better on fast breaks,” she added.

Smith said the team works hard in practice and that work shows in the game.

“I’m glad that we did well today. We all worked hard and pushed each other in practice. We were proud for the good defense,” she added.
