OHS baseball team loses to Jensen Beach

OKEECHOBEE — Lyon Richardson had a three-run triple and five RBI to lead Jensen Beach (2-3) to a 7-2 victory over Okeechobee in high school baseball action Friday.

Okeechobee made two crucial fielding errors in the first inning which led to a four-run Falcon rally.

All of the runs scored after two outs were recorded.

Wade Walton started the rally with a simple ground ball to short stop that OHS could not handle. Braeden Ogle, who had pro scouts watching him pitch in the game, hit what seemed to be an easy ground ball to first, but OHS could not secure the out. Angel Pardo followed with an infield hit and Fernando Pineyro hit an RBI single to center field. Richardson followed with a big blow with a blast to left center field that cleared the bases.

Okeechobee answered back with two runs in the bottom of the third. Cody Louthan was hit by a pitch. He bolted for second and appeared to have been picked off but a throwing error by Jensen put him in scoring position. Jarred Morgan struck out but the catcher didn’t catch the pitch cleanly. His throw to first base was well over the fielders head and OHS had runners on first and third. Armando Rodriguez followed with an RBI single to right field to score Louthan. Gabe Greseth continued the rally with an RBI ground out to second base. Ogle pitched out of the jam as he retired the next two hitters via strikeouts and a weak fly ball with two runners in scoring position.

Jensen Beach took control with a run in the top of the fourth as Pineyro reached on a throwing error, stole second and scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Hunter Schoch.

Richardson’s two-run single scored Walton and Ogle in the seventh inning.

Thad Blankenship pitched four solid innings of relief for Jensen Beach. He allowed just a fifth inning double to Morgan and struck out eight Brahmans.

Elijah Finney pitched four solid innings for OHS and did not allow an earned run. He struck out five. Chase Quisenberry pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Sean Osceola had an infield hit in the third for OHS, (2-3).

The Brahmans hosted Fort Pierce Central on Monday night and travel to South Fork on Friday, March 4.
