West Palm VA to hold open house for Women’s Health Week

The event is being hosted for women who served in the military

WEST PALM BEACH — In celebration of National Women’s Health Week, May 12-18, the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center will host a Women Veterans Open House on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 7305 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach. The event falls on Armed Forces Day – a national day to recognize and honor those who serve in the U.S. military.

“The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center is proud to offer services and programs that specifically cater to the needs of women who have served in the military,” said Women Veterans Program Manager Rosemary Balaguer, PA-C. “We offer services to women in various different stages of life – from pre and post-menopausal women to those within childbearing age – and we encourage all women who have served to come in and speak with our staff about the benefits available to them.”

Women are among the fastest growing Veteran demographics, accounting for more than 30 percent of the increase in Veterans who served between 2014 and 2018. The number of women using VA health services has tripled since 2000, growing from about 160,000 to nearly 500,000 today. The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center offers a wide range of services for women to include primary care and specialty services such as health screenings, fertility counseling, maternity care, prosthetics and menopausal support.

All women Veterans not currently using VA health care services are encouraged to attend the event and enroll to use the benefits they have earned.
