Thieves take wheels, tires from car

OKEECHOBEE — A woman who parked her car at the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) public access park on U.S. 441 N. was shocked when she returned to find her car sitting on blocks.

According to a report by Deputy Daniel Eng, of the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), the woman parked her black Infinity at the park while she went to Orlando with a friend.

The deputy indicated she parked her vehicle around 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, then returned around 2 a.m. Aug. 24 to pick up her vehicle.

“The vehicle was sitting on concrete blocks because the wheels and tires were taken off.

There were also large scratches all around the vehicle,” stated the deputy.

The victim lost four, 22-inch Forgiato wheels along with tires. All together, the loss was valued at $5,199.30. The car also sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages.

The car also appeared to be ‘keyed’ and had scratches all over the vehicle.

Deputy Eng said the victim, 26, had no idea who would do such a thing because she doesn’t live in Okeechobee and doesn’t know anyone who does live here.
