Okeechobee motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run

OKEECHOBEE—An Okeechobee County man died Friday after his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by a woman who was later charged with DUI.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Clinton Griffin, 46, of Okeechobee, was stopped on his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle in the southbound lane of U.S. 441, near S.E. 38th Drive, waiting to turn left into a private drive around 5:35 p.m.

Lisa Marie Kramer, 45, of Okeechobee, was also southbound driving a 2003 Kia Spectra. The Kia struck the rear of the motorcycle, according to the report.

Kramer fled the accident scene, the report continues. She was apprehended by Okeechobee County deputies about 5 miles away.

Mr. Griffin was transported to Raulerson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kramer was not injured in the accident, according to the report.

Kramer was arrested and charged with failure to stop at an accident involving injury or death, leaving the scene of an accident crash with death,  DUI-manslaughter, and driving with a suspended license.

She is being held in the Okeechobee County Jail on a $325,000 bond.
