Illegal dumping occurs at Hendry Creek

OKEECHOBEE — An unknown person or persons mistook Hendry Creek as their own personal dumping grounds and left behind four piles of miscellaneous garbage.

Deputy Frank Baum responded to the call Thursday evening, June 2, and when he arrived, he found the piles in four separate locations at Hendry Creek. The discarded items included household waste, construction materials (waste cement backboard) and two tires. In addition, the area of Hendry Creek was also heavily littered with miscellaneous trash including cans, soda and beer boxes and plastic bags.

Also found among the refuse, a piece of evidence came to light in the form of a letter with a Canal Point postal address.

Proper cleaning of the area will be conducted in the near future.
