Hialeah woman killed in 2-car crash

OKEECHOBEE — A 60-year-old Hialeah woman died as a result of injuries she received in a two-car crash Tuesday, July 5, on S.R. 70 East.

A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) press release indicated the 6:15 a.m. crash occurred just west of N.E. 112th Avenue as Danny Walizer, 22, was eastbound on S.R. 70 and passing another vehicle.

The Okeechobee man’s 2008 Mazda sports utility vehicle, continued the report, then struck the left front of an oncoming 2005 Ford sports utility vehicle being driven by Andres Torres, 26, of Hialeah.

Ileana Del Carmen Torres, a passenger in the Ford SUV, was killed in the crash.

According to the report Mr. Torres, who was westbound, swerved to the north grass shoulder as did Mr. Walizer. The left front of  Mr. Walizer’s vehicle then collided with the left front of the Ford SUV.

“Both vehicles then rotated and vehicle two (Mr. Torres) overturned onto its left side,” stated the release.

Both Mr. Walizer and Mr. Torres were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.

Everyone involved was wearing their seat belts, noted the release.

The accident remains under investigation.
