Students learn to sculpt

Washington, D.C., artist and designer, Kevin Reese, has been working for over 35 years with teachers and students in a program called School Sculptures. Through the generosity of the Dolly Hand Theater, Gove Elementary students participated in a week-long residency with Kevin Reese. With ideas and the participation of our student artists, Reese taught them the skills and techniques used to create mobile sculptures. They applied mathematical concepts and learned about visual metaphors. The result was three spectacular mobile sculptures, which were installed throughout the school.
